Lynn I really don't have any words to explain the love I hold for ESTLCF... so I won't try to tell y'all. What I will say instead is that the music video for The Sea is so good. Favorite track: Warden Rock.

Gareth Roberts Every ESTLCF tune. Plenty to enjoy for all, from the upbeat High Tide '75 and A Fire Born In Dallas to the heavier, driving tracks like Horrorcraft and Alex In Danger (my personal fave). Favorite track: Alex In Danger.

President 04:32
I am the president within these four walls. I was ten seconds from resolving this war. But like you hoped, I choked. I was the lawyer, you defendant And during my closing I was two words From bringing you down. But like you hoped, I choked. If you know the name Of someone estranged You’ll know this well, you’ll know this well. The parts don’t explain The whole of the blame, But you’ll know this well, you’ll know this well. We could save the earth From all decay But one word from you And it’s me who fades away I, I choke. If you know the name Of someone estranged You’ll know this well, you’ll know this well. The parts don’t explain The whole of the blame, But you’ll know this well, you’ll know this well. I am the president Of these four walls. I will resolve this war.

The Sea 03:46
If this be the sea Then where do I stand? Is the breeze from the water Or the pages that pass through my hand? If this be the sea Then where do I stand? Is the rip of the tide Or the pages that pass through my hand? If this be the sea Then where do I stand? If this be the sea. Is the glare from the water Or the pages that pass through my hand? Is there life in the depths Or that pages that pass through my hand? If this be the sea Then where do I stand? If this be the sea. If this be the sea Then where do I stand? With grain 'tween my toes And gloss in my hand. The page is the power An old power at fault And when I ripple paper Man, I swear I smell salt. I raise up the page To cover the view But if this be the sea, Oh, if this be the sea, If this be the sea, If this be the sea, If this be the sea Then the sea I choose you.

Warden Rock 04:26
Now you You're here for me All dressed up Against the lonely. In me I see in you That you have known Lonely too. Been in flight been to places I'd ground my feet In these river banks for you For you. Run river dry Of ships and coals Sound sounding home By the light of you Of you. Words were spoke And the river flowed To the rhythm of our parts Just chewing sparks Against the dark. I've never been so alive By the banks of the river By the banks of the Tyne. We came by the rock Where the waters meet And gather towards the town These rivers graft Under bridges sat Low and wide With steel clad grins Bearing sleepy teeth above Above the deep Deep river sleep. I've never been So alive By the banks of the river By the banks of the Tyne. What we built before And crafted with Pretty little bones And firm hips. What we built before And crafted with Armies of coal And fleets of ships.

A cloud, lost on the border My fire, can only be unilateral I’m… escalating! Since that fever was born in The panic of busy lights. I’ll blame my timing, The fire was born in Dallas. Different tales! For the same situations. Different tales! With a certain sense of Politics and critiques to show Infallible track records and a sense of humility. A cloud, lost on the border My fire can only be unilateral. I’m escalating! This is it! This is everything you’ve ever wanted. This is it! This is everything. This is it! This everything you’ve ever wanted. This is everything. You sold the voice that Whispered my worries away. You sold that voice, Now I’m discouraged and kept at bay. But you sold the voice that Whispered my worries away.

As we missed the pavement cracks, Our routes mapped out with silhouettes, There’s time for that pivotal moment. I’ll never sleep far from the ocean, So reflect that smile to me. Like I said “No, I don’t believe it” I overheard something about a bad dream After all. As I awoke to my alarm, My twisted back was realigned. It took longer than normal to focus. We saw a shape in motion. You are a shape in motion You are a shape in motion You are a shape in motion You are a shape.

Can you believe the way that things worked out? I’d normally wait until you pan into view. Have you grasped the concept behind the idea? Or are you directing all those wrapped up in the chaos that ensued? How did it go so wrong? This shot will be the death of me. You seem to know more than I do. Don’t think that I’ll forget about the time you Stood with me face to face and lied through Your teeth. Some would say I would outlast her, My mind just screamed disaster, disaster, disaster! How did it go so wrong? This show will be the death of me. You seem to know more than I do. We slept right through so settle down, I can’t be blamed for all you’ve done. This lack of sleep is killing me. This lack of sleep is killing me. This lack of sleep is killing me.
10.
All I hear is a million conversations And I’m not a part of it. I forget time, and I wonder If I’m still faking it. I take it back, I take everything back I thought I was optimistic. Make an exit to the sound of your feet But I’m out of time. I made some mistakes But I’ll put them right If you give me some time To reach political finish lines. As long as I’m not broken Bruised, or unspoken. Don’t be a stranger next time Don’t be a stranger next time Don’t be a stranger next time The word time it comes up More than once. It was time it was you Who lost it. I’ve forgiven you more than once I won’t forget it, But I’ll forgive you once again. Don’t be a stranger next time Don’t be a stranger next time Don’t be a stranger next time.

The summer’s not here so join our side We’ll never leave and we’ll call it home. Brave wind and the snow and we’ll wait for a sign, A moth coloured flag to signal everything’s fine. With the lake ablaze, we wonder if, This is all that we’ll ever know? Is it just us or is everyone else Growing just to get old? Just before I gave up again I swear I heard you say:
“It’s not the first time that I’ve Escaped from the sun and I’d do it again.” I fall Into The grass. I search for you In the dirt. Just before I gave up again I swear I heard you say:
“It’s not the first time that I’ve Escaped from the sun and I’d do it again.”

The pieces of the argument, Destined to be left unsaid. Frayed from hollow intent. Let's bury them in the sea bed. The red mist parts and I fall apart, when the red mist parts. Who ever meant to be mislead? We journeyed to the harbour. Two steps and these old socks were wet. Left adrift to save on labour. The argument. The argument Was left Unsaid. The pieces of the argument Better left unsaid. Wasted journey to the harbour. No breath to reach the sea bed. The red mist parts. That's when I start, Before the red mist parts. The argument. The argument was always meant To be unspoken and left... unsaid. To those people who pre-empt the breaking of dawn. The crack of light that opens a yawn. I'm speaking to you Not for you. These arguments whimper Into the martyrs last rites. The words in the ether Blue touch paper in flight. We'll meet at the oak tree and forget the storm that poured scorn To the temples of our first born. But we'll still meet, At that old oak tree.

Some how we found our way to the parting line But we stumbled and failed to cross. That was the last of that until we found, At the tip of the tide… a vehicle. I perceived persistence in your tone Intentional or not. Your footsteps suggest that my attempts At sobriety were coming to an end. I walked past, Just to say I never learn by mistakes. Just as I’d escaped From the burden of Alex’s troubles, I woke up in the midst Of motions foreign to me. It became clear you’d ignored My plight and Boarded Horrorcraft, Just to see how far you could get. How far did you get anyway? Oh, I opened my eyes to whispers “The plan is… to cross this ocean.” And oh, it looks like we’ve travelled. To meet that smile, reflected to me By tides in the night. Just as I’d escaped From the burden of Alex’s troubles, I woke up in the midst Of motions foreign to me. It became clear you’d ignored My plight and Boarded Horrorcraft, Just to see how far you could get. How far did you get anyway?

Ships 05:39
The night, the time, the gloss has run dry We might as well be walking away from This mess of inconsiderate friends. For the last ten months, I can’t recall each day. Is it just the age? Or is it some sort of moratorium? Through all this time, Is the resolve still mine? At least you believed that The itch underneath my cast Was riddled with dust. At least you believed that The hotel room was all they had And sleep was a must. You said its okay, And I believed you, I’ll be reviewing A few things I believe in. How will this ship, will this ship set sail? The wind blows north, we can only regale ourselves In stories, these stories of passion. We’re committed to the cause, even though we never left these shores. Has this ship set sail? The north plays part in this long winded tale of our stories. The night, the time, the gloss has run dry We might as well be walking away from This mess. How will this ship, will this ship set sail? The wind blows north, we can only regale ourselves In stories, these stories of passion. We’re committed to the cause, even though we never left these shores. Has this ship set sail? The north plays part in this long winded tale of our stories.

I took an idea from your entrance I sat down and thought about Wasting my time But then I lost it. Step back from your Point of view you’ll See what they say. You said “Invest in youth” And I agreed, “But the units must sell, units must sell!” Alex in Danger won’t do it for me, But now I can sleep easily. Alex in danger! I see it, I see it. Alex in danger! You’ll see why, I mean it.

EVER SINCE THE LAKE CAUGHT FIRE 2005 - 2010 IS A COMPILATION OF SINGLES, REMIXES, DEMOS AND RARITIES. RELEASED POSTHUMOUSLY AS A DOWNLOAD PACKAGE WITH ALL PROCEEDS GOING TO CANCER RESEARCH UK.

Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire hail from Tyneside’s coastal towns of Whitley Bay and Tynemouth. After spending a year gathering local support through impassioned live performances, described by one local music mag as 'effortlessly switching between parent-baiting grunge and contemplative ambient prog', the band released a self titled e.p. in 2006 which earned them a place on the Unsigned Stage at Leeds Festival as well as playing 'In The City' Manchester. The lead track 'Disaster! Disaster!' was also featured on the Big Scary Monsters '50 Not Out' release.

Staying true to their DIY ethic, ESTLCF joined forces with local independent label ‘Pay For The Piano Recordings’ to release their debut single 'A Fire Born in Dallas' in 2008 which was produced by ‘iForward Russia!’ frontman Tom Woodhead. The single, described in The Metro as having 'post-hardcore and prog influences welded together to create a sound that is both vulnerable and self assured' achieved radio play on Steve Lamacq’s Radio 1 show and Tom Robinson’s BBC 6music show. To capitalise on this exposure, ESTLCF embarked on a tour of the UK and Poland.

With the addition of a fifth member the band broadened and developed their sound, referred to in The Music Magazine as 'reminiscent of Broken Social Scene with a distinctly English 'indie' tinge' and new song 'The Sea' received praise from Tom Robinson on the BBC6 Music Introducing show.

Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire released double A side single The Sea/Warden Rock on 15th May 2010 and following a show in December 2010 went on a two year hiatus.

The band released a compilation of singles, remixes and demos in 2011

Following a charity comeback gig with Kubichek! in Feb 2013 the band got back together to record more material due for release this year.

ESTLCF have shared the stage with the likes of NO AGE, BLK JKS, Everything, Everything, Tubelord, Vessels, The Joy Formidable, DARTZ!, Dananananaykrod, Johnny Foreigner, Adem, Pulled Apart By Horses, The Cooper Temple Clause, This Ain't Vegas, iforward russia! and Frank Turner.

"this Newcastle troupe are an impassioned bunch... we can hear early Sonic Youth, late At The Drive-In and a noise about whose future movements we'd like to be kept informed."NME

"From the start of the set to the final notes of set-closer Disaster Disaster, Ever Since were furiously noisy, creating a chaos that could barely be reined in. The vocals were hollered with passion as guitars crashed all around them." BBC

"A towering powerhouse of indie noise... Contemplative and evisceral at the same time, even at their youth and relative inexperience their potential is frightening." Rock Midgets

"Like a poppier This Ain't Vegas, or a punkier Idlewild, ESTLCF deliver an intense and melodic noise..." NARC.

"Take Fugazi's sonic powers, add ATDI's appetite for extreme guitar chaos and gently dust with a bit of Biffy Clyro's post-hardcore sensibilities..." The Crack

"Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire - Epic, slightly proggy melodic rock with a touch of post-hardcore." NME Student Guide 07 - 'Pick of the local bands
