Vinyl Jacket follow up the success of 2011 with their third single ‘Red Light’ released 5th March 2012 on The Calico Print label. The single is backed by an exclusive remix by Mercury-nominated artist Everything Everything.
Vinyl Jacket are a young five piece that hail from the small village of Wylam in Northumberland creating their unique brand of upbeat, off-kilter Pop. Having only formed early 2010 the band headlined the BBC Introducing Stage at In the City and featured on the Chris Moyles Breakfast Show for BBC Introducing week January 2011.
Their debut single Painting Stations (21.02.11) received airplay from Chris Moyles, Huw Stephens (track of the week), Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne, Tom Robinson and Capital FM as well as a ‘New Blood’ feature in Artrocker Magazine.
They followed up the single by touring the UK as well as supporting Little Comets, playing Liverpool Sound City and opening the main stage at Evolution Festival. The band also played the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury Festival this year after being selected by a panel that included Zane Lowe, Jo Whiley and Emily Eavis.
Koala (18.07.11) received plays from XFM’s John Kennedy, 6Music’s Lauren Laverne & Tom Robinson and was again a Huw Stephens tip of the week that resulted in him inviting Vinyl Jacket down for a Radio 1 session at the famous Maida Vale studios.
